Nathaniel Bassey is a very good talented popular gospel act in Nigeria. The singer has touched many lives through his highly inspirational songs. He is a songwriter, singer and equally a producer.

Nath initiated a praise and worship session on social media with the hashtag #HalleluyahChallenge and it has continued to trend online since 31st May 2017. This he said was to bring a lot of people together to worship God for one hour daily between the hours or 12am – 1am.

 

Nathaniel Bassey’s Full Biography

Nathaniel Bassey was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He hails from Ikot Ofon Ikono, a village in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa-Ibom state, South-South Nigeria.

Bassey had the love for music and the gospel from when he was a kid. He said He got inspired from watching Dr. Panam Percy Paul, one of the prominent Nigerian gospel artists as he performed in a concert. This happened some decades ago and since then His passion for music has paved way for him into numerous musical experiences.

Nathaniel Bassey is a Politics and International Relations graduate from the University of London and also serves as the music director at RCCG  Redeemed Christain Church of God; The King’s Court.

 

Nath’s Musical Career

At the early stage of his career pursuit, Bassey developed an uncommon interest for jazz music which led him to be imitating and playing to the music of Louis Armstrong, Miles Davies, Clifford Brown, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz and Kirk Whalum, Phil Driscoll, Hugh Masakela and other Jazz superstars. His zeal for the Jazz form would later stir him to seek out bands and groups along the Jazz lines. He then joined a top jazz quartet in Lagos, Spectrum 4, where he played alongside his childhood friends.

Nath served under Elder Steve Rhodes of THE STEVE RHODES ORCHESTRA as a band leader and lead trumpet player for two years with and then journeyed on with his music career. Due to his His peculiar and particularly soulful trumpet playing style many individual artists and organizations from within and outside the country sought for Him, artists like; Teemac, Ayo Bankole Jr, Cobhams Asuquo, Wole Oni, Yinka Davies, Adlan Cruise, Funsho Ogundipe, Peter King, Sotiris Papadopoulus, Paul Petersen and organizations like; The French Cultural Centre and American International School.

He built an intimate fellowship with the Holy Spirit and then realized that music was more than just a medium or item to get people shouting and dancing. He found out that music is a major tool to praise and worship GOD.

As for Nath, he was all for WORSHIP – what he sees to be the “Music of Heaven”. His gentle singing method alongside His soulful trumpet playing has led any into engaging their soul and spirit with the Lord whenever he ministers in concerts, churches and crusades.
